KISS

HEINZ DELI MAYO LAUNCH

This little 30” mayo ad entered culture, protest and politics on both sides of the Atlantic.

Just google Heinz Gay Kiss, and stand well back. The highlights are, right wing pressure group American Family Association (who were using the ad as publicity to protest gay marriage in California) calling for a boycott of Heinz products unless Heinz pulled the ad. Then when they pulled it, the gay community calling for their own boycott. Then two motions being put to the House of Commons demanding that the ad be put back on air.

Funny thing is, the script was heavily researched and approved by everyone, and until the right wing bigots got involved, there wasn’t a single complaint.

And it’s not a gay kiss, it’s just a little joke to say Deli Mayo tastes so authentic it’s like whoever uses it becomes a deli guy. Directed by David Gray.

(The mayo immediately sold out.)
