Singin’ in the rain

vW GOLF GTi

Like the Heinz Tomato Ketchup campaign, this is based on a truth – that the Golf GTi was the first ever GTi. But VW was about wit and engagement, not chest-beating history lessons, so we associated the car with another original icon.

We used 3 different dancers, one for Popping & Locking, one for Airflares, and one, David Elsewhere, for everything else. Google him, he’s incredible.

We worked with Mint Royale to develop the music and they later had a top 20 hit and a UK number 1 with it. George Sampson re-enacted the ad to win Britain’s got Talent. Directed by NEO.
