call to stop
WOMEN’S aid RADIO & PR
After recording a VO with Olivia Coleman, I mentioned I was writing for Women’s Aid and she said “I’ll do it” without even seeing a script.
People ignored their neighbours’ domestic abuse as they doubted their call would have an effect. Our idea was to do link the sounds of domestic violence with making a call.
A campaign of ads on LBC featured sounds of violence, with the violence getting progressively worse in each ad.
A VO explained that, while the sounds are distressing, they will continue until enough listeners call the radio station to stop them. ‘Just as in real life, making a call can make it stop’.
The second ad is at: https://adsspot.me/media/radio/womens-aid-domestic-violence-no-stopping-163a67c8bdd5
Enough people called after three ads to stop it and the response led LBC to dedicate the next morning’s show to a domestic violence phone-in and an interview with Women’s Aid’s CEO. Directed by Dominic savage.
